Professor Anders Elverhoi (Norway, Director, UiO:Energy, University of Oslo) is currently responsible for the development of research and education on sustainable energy system at the Univ of Oslo. He graduated from the Univ of Oslo in 1975 and holds a Ph.D in geology from the University of Bergen (1984). He worked as a marine scientist at the Norwegian Polar Research Institute (1977-1990) until he became appointed as professor at the Univ of Oslo. Elverhøi has through his career acted as leader of several polar committees nationally as well as internationally, and in the period from 1989 to 1994 he was the leader of a major European polar program with participants from 7 nations. He has more than 30 years of experience in geosciences related to environmental and petroleum geology. Elverhøi has been involved in the development of national research policies on oil and gas, renewable energies, climate and the environment. He has been a member of The Academy of Science in Norway since 1999, and is currently chairman of The Natural Sciences Division.
