Bruno Carli (Italy) is Associate Director of Research at the Institute of Applied Physics “Nello Carrara” (IFAC) of the Italian National Research Council (CNR) worked forty years in the fields of Atmospheric Physics and Earth observations from space. His studies include early measurements from balloon borne platforms of the ozone chemistry using far infrared spectroscopy, measurements campaigns of the ozone recovery processes in Antarctic (APE-GAIA) with instruments operating on an aircraft flying at stratospheric altitudes and data processing for ESA (inversion of the data at the input of the satellite for the retrieval of the geophysical parameters) of the MIPAS instrument flying on the Envisat satellite. 

He obtained the NASA's Group Achievement Award and the NASA's Public Service Medal, as well as the ESA medal for contributions to the Envisat satellite.

Former member of the "Science Panel on Stratospheric Ozone" of the European Commission, of the ESAC (Earth Science Advisory Committee) of ESA, of the  ESSC (European Space Science Committee) of the European Science Foundation, he is presently member of the Italian "Accademia Nazionale dei Lincei" in the Class "Scienze Fisiche, Matematiche e Naturali".
